Is Owa Odighizuwa going to be alright and are the New York Giants zeroing in on Eli’s successor? That and more in Big Blue Bylines.

What is going on with Owa Odighizuwa?

Someone needs to take away Owa Odighizuwa’s Twitter account. Or, get him a phyciatrist. Actually, do both.

In all seriousness, the Giants’ defensive end’s actions are very worrisome. First he went on a Twitter rant apologizing to fans, but that he needed to “take some time away from the game.” Then Odighizuwa went back on this to tweet he was happy to be with the Giants and is doing fine.

So, he essentially admitted it was him who sent out the previous apologetic retirement message. All the tweets are even still up on his account. It is clear Odighizuwa is going through some personal issues he must address. The massive pressures that come with being an NFL player cannot be helping this situation. Here is to hoping he gets the help he needs.

Patrick Mahomes II may be the Giants’ quarterback of the future.

ESNY’s Jason Leach reported on the Giants taking a special interest in Texas Tech signal caller Patrick Mahomes II.

As the end of the Eli Manning era looms closer each day it is no surprise the team has begun doing its due diligence it scouting this year’s crop of incoming rookie quarterbacks. However, New York seems to have taken a particular interest in Mahomes II.

Leach describes how the Giants’ interest in the young gunslinger may be quite serious.

It’s unusual for McAdoo to attend a pro day as he normally leaves it to general manager Jerry Reese” Jerry Reese and Marc Ross, the vice president of player evaluation. In fact, this was the first time McAdoo attended a pro day since he became New York Giants head coach.

With the Giants signing Geno SmithGeno Smith to a one year deal a couple of weeks ago, the Giants weren’t expected to take a quarterback early in the draft. But maybe that’s no longer the case as it’s been reported that McAdoo also had a private meeting with MAHOMES.

Fennelly’s 2017 Giants’ Mock Draft

Speaking of the upcoming draft, ESNY’s John Fennelly made his pick for the Giants. He looked at some of the top prospects likely to be on Big Blue’s radar for their first round selection.

With the 23rd pick, the Giants will be not be looking at the creme de la creme, but they will have access to some very useful players. Two of the players in that row could end up being offensive tackles. The top two players at that position, Wisconsin’s Ryan Ramczyk and Garrett Bolles of Utah, could be available here. Other players the Giants have been said to be high on are Miami TE David Njoku, Texas Tech QB Patrick Mahomes, Michigan DE Taco Charlton and LB Haason Reddick of Temple.

Odell Beckham Jr. will not be attending Eli Manning’s Duke workouts

For the past five years, Eli Manning has conducted a pre-training camp workout with his receivers at Duke University. This year though Manning’s top target Odell Beckham Jr. will not be in attendance. Yahoo Sports’ Curtis Rawls reported the story.

Beckham said in an interview with New York Newsday that he is skipping the workouts because of impending oral surgery. He expects to be ready for the Giants’ offseason workouts beginning April 18.

The decision for Beckham to skip this entirely voluntary workout raises a few eyebrows.
