Georgetown has reportedly hired New York Knicks legend Patrick Ewing as their next head basketball coach. He’s getting started right away.

The Georgetown Hoyas have their guy. It’s former Georgetown and New York Knicks legend Patrick Ewing. According to multiple sources, the Hall of Famer has reportedly been hired by his alma mater to become their next head coach.

Ewing has been waiting for his shot while paying his dues spending the last 14 years as an assistant in the NBA. He’s been with four different teams.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical, the 11-time All-Star has a multi-year deal and plans to leave his current post as associate head coach of the Charlotte Hornets immediately to get started.

Per Woj, the 54-year-old is well-prepared and already has plans to pursue some high-level college assistants.

Patrick Ewing is finally getting his shot. We always thought it would be in the NBA, but it was tough for the former Big East Player of the Year to turn down his alma mater.
