New York Islanders’ Jason Chimera breathes life into squad with penalty-shot goal (Video)

The New York Islanders were down 3-0 after throwing everything but the seats at Frederik Andersen. Jason Chimera was hooked on a breakaway and capitalized big time.

The score-sheet and the SOG tell two different stories tonight at the Air Canada Center.

The New York Islanders were down 3-0 against the Toronto Maple Leafs while doing everything they could to flip the script.

Then, after some great end-to-end shifts, Jason Chimera attempted to elevate a shot over Andersen’s glove but was denied on a hook by Matt Hunwick.

The call by the referee was one that infuriated the Air Canada Center and coach Mike Babcock.

Chimmer slowly skated into the zone and tickled the net with a rocket of a wrist-shot behind Andersen (video above).

The goal gives the Islanders a much needed slice into the deficit coming out of the second period.

The Islanders are currently down 3-1 against the Maple Leafs as they look to come back at the start of the third period.
