Loren Lee Chen of Jeopardy makes fun of Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors are still being made fun of for blowing their 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals, this time on Jeopardy.

What is making fun of the Golden State Warriors? That is the answer to the clue this is what a Jeopardy champion has been doing this week.

The Warriors had a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals last June but they blew it and lost the title to the Cleveland Cavaliers. This week, Loren Lee Chen, an NBA podcaster from West Newton, Massachusetts, and current Jeopardy champion, made fun of the Warriors during Final Jeopardy. Chen bet $301 and $739 during Final Jeopardy on Tuesday and Wednesday, making fun of the Warriors 73-9 record from the 2015-16 season and the blown finals lead, according to Jovan Buha of ESPN.

“Since the 2016 NBA Finals, there has been a meme on ‘Basketball Twitter’ to constantly interject with: ‘Don’t let this distract you from the fact that the Warriors went 73-9 and blew a 3-1 lead in the Finals,'” Chen told ESPN. “Basketball Twitter is obviously a big part of my life, so I wanted to give them a little shout-out, though now it might have been a little stale.”

He went on to say, “My $301 bet on Tuesday didn’t get noticed by too many people. But $739 on Wednesday definitely did, and it’s been really great seeing the support from everyone on there during this run.”

It is unknown when the episodes were taped and Jeopardy contestants are prohibited from confirming when an episode was taped.

Chen’s two-day winning total just over $36,000. It will be interesting to see if he continue to make fun of the Warriors on Thursday’s show.
