The New York Islanders will be without the services of Andrew Ladd and Cal Clutterbuck when they face off against the Bruins in Boston this afternoon.

The Boston Bruins have scored 19 goals over their past five games and are coming off of a 6-3 win over Philadelphia, while the New York Islanders are looking to rebound off an ugly 7-4 loss to Carolina.

Banged, Bruised and Benched

The Islanders have scratched alternate captains Cal Clutterbuck and Andrew Ladd this afternoon in Boston. After losing a spirited game to the Hurricanes, the Islanders will be looking to repeat their performance in Boston the last time they were here.

Stephen Gionta will make his debut with the Islanders today as well. After signing a PTO in the summer and having a broken foot for the first month of the season, Gionta has been recalled to the Islanders and will likely log minutes on the fourth line.

Shane Prince will be in as well for the Islanders, and Johnny Boychuk will slot in over Scott Mayfield on defense.

Thomas Griess will get his seventh start in goal against Boston after having an off night in Raleigh.

The newly appointed starter has not disappointed in his official debut as the team’s undisputed No. 1 goaltender, but many are wondering as to why JF Berube has not gotten the call.

It was believed that the three goalie debacle had occurred because of the potential management saw in Berube.

For him to not be playing is raising some eyebrows with fans who were looking forward to seeing the potential in their possible starter three or so years down the line.
