New York Giants star Odell Beckham Jr. needs to grow up, says radio host Mike Francesa.

Radio host Mike Francesa wants to see Odell Beckham Jr. catch the ball. He would also like to see Beckham grow up.

Francesa opened his show on WFAN on Monday with the New York Giants loss to the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Wild Card Game. He then ripped Beckham by saying that no one cares about him making one-handed catches, saying he should make catches with two hands and grow up.

“Nobody cares if he wears sleeves, catch the ball. Nobody cares if he’s out there with no shirt on, catch the ball. Nobody cares if you can make one-handed catches, try making two-handed catches!” he said. “Catch the ball. Grow up.”

The radio show host then said that somebody in the Giants organization should help Beckham or he would turn into another Jeremy Shockey, according to Brett Bodner of the New York Daily News. Shockey, a former Giants tight end, wasn’t as good as people thought he was going to be. Beckham will be just like Shockey if he doesn’t grow up, according to Francesa.

Beckham has become a star by partying and making one-handed catches, not by his performance on the field. That’s not a good thing.

“Now you become a star by outrageous behavior and doing something outrageous like making a one-handed catch when basically you drop every fourth ball,” the radio show host said. “I’d rather a guy who doesn’t make one-handed catches, but doesn’t ever have a problem making two-handed catches.”

Beckham played in his first playoff game on Sunday. He had four catches for 28 yards, dropped two passes. He could have caught several other passes, but they fell incomplete, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN. After the game, he punched a hole in a locker room wall.

Francesa is right, Beckham does need to grow up. Right now Beckham is known for partying and making amazing one-handed catches, not his performance on the field. He needs to stop the shenanigans that have brought him publicity and become a better player and role model. He needs to quit dropping passes and start making catches; with one or both hands. Otherwise, he’ll end up like Shockey.

Beckham, it’s time to grow up or get lost.
