New York Rangers: Henrik Lundqvist gives up worst goal of his career

New York Rangers’ Henrik Lundqvist just allowed one of the worst goals you’ll ever see while playing the Sabres in Buffalo.

“You have got to be kidding me.”

Those were very likely the words that many New York Rangers herd fans come out of their mouths 18 seconds into tonight’s contest with the Buffalo Sabers at the KeyBank center.

After creating an early faceoff inside the Buffalo zone thanks to Chris Kreider‘s hard-nosed move to the net, things came crashing down seconds later for the Blueshirts.

After the Sabres won the draw in their own zone, Buffalo defenseman Jake McCabe skated out with the pick down the bench-side boards and fired a seemingly harmless shot towards net from behind the red line.

The puck proceeded to sneak by everyone … Including Henrik Lundqvist.

The King, who appeared to be in fine position, watched helplessly as the puck wickedly ricocheted off the ice and over his shoulder. Johan Larsson was given credit as it tipped off of him near the blue line.

This has to be one of the worst goals that Henrik has allowed in his career. Even though it took a funny bounce, this is a shot that he simply has to stop.

Either way, this is just a brutal start for the Rangers in upstate New York.
