With winter meetings forthcoming, Yoenis Cespedes is ready to re-sign with the New York Mets and quickly.

The New York Mets chase for Yoenis Cespedes continues. Sandy Alderson seems to be confident that the Cuban will stay in New York. Alderson told WOR Mets radio on Wednesday that Cespedes has texted the organization indicating his interest in returning to the team next season.

According to Dan Martin and Mike Puma of the New York Post, Cespedes’s camp would  like to get a deal done sooner rather than later, whether it’s with the Mets or another team.

Along with Cespedes showing desire to return, the players have also expressed their hope in a Cespedes return. On Tuesday, Jose Reyes and Curtis Granderson told reporters they hope the Mets find a way to bring the silver slugger back to Queens.

Alderson has also expressed his desire to re-sign Cespedes, telling reporters he would like to have a deal done by the ending of winter meetings which begin December 4 and end December 8. Along with these reports, the Mets were shopping Jay Bruce earlier in the week, which could be an indication they are confident Cespedes will re-sign with the team.

The Mets are hopeful that Cespedes’s love for New York will allow them to re-sign the slugger without having to bid the highest among other teams. While a deal doesn’t seem to be close as of now fans have to be optimistic based on Cespedes’s desire to return.
