After a rash of injuries to their interior offensive line depth, the New York Giants have turned to a familiar face in Shane McDermott.

With Justin Pugh (knee), Brett Jones (calf), and Adam Gettis (calf) all appearing on the injury report, the New York Giants have signed OG/C Shane McDermott to their practice squad for depth.

McDermott was a member of the Giants’ practice squad last season and was with the team during training camp this year. He was ultimately released as part of the final roster cut downs.

Though Gettis was able to return to the practice field this week, bringing back McDermott was a wise move. Having an offensive lineman on the team that knows the playbook and has experience playing with the rest of the line is a great insurance move. Should another lineman suffer an injury, it’ll be McDermott who gets the promotion to the 53-man roster.
