Following another disappointing start by Ryan Fitzpatrick, the New York Jets will reportedly name Geno Smith their new starting quarterback.

Looks like there will be a new man under center for the New York Jets in Week 7 against the Baltimore Ravens.

According to ESPN’s NFL insider Adam SchefterGeno Smith will be named New York’s new starting quarterback after the NFL leader in interceptions, Ryan Fitzpatrick, threw for 174 yards and completed just 51.6 % of his passes in Arizona in Week 6, both season-lows.

In the fourth quarter of last week’s embarrassing loss to the Cardinals, which sent head coach Todd Bowles and company to 1-5, Smith replaced Fitzpatrick and did show some signs encouragement.

Despite throwing a pick to Tyrann Mathieu with 4:20 left to play, Smith demonstrated comfortability in the pocket and a firm grasp of the game plan.

Geno’s last start came on December 28, 2014, when he threw for 358 yards against the Miami Dolphins in Week 17.
