Draymond Green Jokes About Aggressive Recruiting Of Kevin Durant To Warriors

Draymond Green talked about the extreme measures he took in assuring Kevin Durant joined the Warriors during an appearance on the Conan show.

Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical first reported that the Golden State Warriors were a serious threat to sign Kevin Durant back in February. Per Woj, Draymond Green was Durant’s most aggressive recruiter. We only had the word of the almighty Woj until Green confirmed it during an appearance on Conan.

I recruited KD really, really hard. And it was like the equivalent of a college coach trying to get a top-five recruit—although I would’ve broke every NCAA rule there was, because I called him a million times. I text him a million and one times. And I tried to show up wherever he was every chance I got.

When I found out he was coming, I came back to my senses, and I said, “I wonder if he respects me as a man now, the way I just blew his phone up.” He had to have a girlfriend who got on his nerves worse than that before. So, I questioned myself.

Green is joking about it now, but his efforts won Durant over, as unorthodox as they were. The four-time scoring champ was convinced to sacrifice his stats to chase a ring on a bonafide super team.
