New York Jets: Breno Giacomini Could Be Sidelined To Start Season

The New York Jets could be without a staple of their offensive line come Week 1 against the Bengals.

Bren Giacomini, who is still battling a bad back, remains on the New York Jets’ PUP list and apparently has a ways to go.

Head coach Todd Bowles told Zach Braziller of the NY Post that, “He’s getting better, but not this week.”

The 30-year-old right tackle massively underperformed last year but has been a constant up front since inking a deal with Gang Green prior to the 2014 campaign. He has yet to miss a game in his Jets tenure, a 32-game streak that is now in question.

Giacomini is ruled out for this Saturday’s preseason clash with the New York Giants, and will likely miss the final tuneup against the Eagles on September 1.

While the season opener is not completely out of the question, he would automatically be several steps behind every fellow first team presence.
