New York Yankees: Gary Sanchez Blasts First Big League Home Run (Video)

New York Yankees rookie catcher Gary Sanchez launched his first major league home run into the Fenway Park night.

How fitting was that?

What a way for Gary Sanchez to make his first impression on the rivalry.

A promising start to a potentially tremendous big league career now has a huge milestone. In the eighth inning of Wednesday night’s ballgame, the 23-year-old backstop absolutely crushed a Junichi Tazawa offering to center field for his big league home run.

The ball left Sanchez’s bat at 107 mph and traveled 426 feet out to center (via Statcast), clanking off the outward extension of the green monster.

His power was well-advertised and now it has been put on full display. Yankee fans can only hope that this is the first of many.
