In a game with the makings of a Subway Series slugfest, the New York Yankees took the lead thanks to a Mark Teixeira second inning home run.
The Mets scored two in the top of the first, the Yankees answered with three in the bottom half. The Mets answered with a run in the top of the second, and the Yankees answered with three of their own in the home half.
This one is looking like a good old-fashioned barnburner.
The New York Yankees currently maintain a 6-3 lead over their crosstown rivals thanks to Mark Teixeira’s second inning opposite field three-run blast.
Teixeira, who has collected a hit in each of the first two games of the series, extended his arms on a Steven Matz offering and took advantage of the favorable Yankee Stadium dimensions.
