Another important New York Mets position player lands on the DL.
The latest Met to hit the DL is shortstop Jose Reyes.
Reyes suffered an intercostal strain on a swing in Tuesday’s doubleheader. He missed the next few days but was hoping to come back this weekend.
The strain has not healed and the Mets will not take any more chances with him.
This came right after the Mets placed outfielder Juan Lagares on the DL with a thumb injury.
With a spot open, the Mets signed outfielder Justin Ruggiano and placed him in tonight’s lineup – playing center field.

Reyes’s latest DL stint adds to an even more crowded list of injured Mets – such as, Matt Harvey, David Wright, Lucas Duda.
New York is on a three-game losing streak, scoring one run in each of their last two loses.
Reyes’ potential return is unknown at this point.
