As the Ryan Fitzpatrick saga carries into the dog days of summer, reports have come out that the New York Jets have multiple offers on the table for the veteran quarterback.

As each day passes, it looks more and more likely that quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick will not return to the New York Jets. It certainly hasn’t been due to a lack of interest.

According to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, the Jets have tabled multiple offers to the 33-year-old in hopes of bringing back a leader from a season ago.

“Fitzmagic” had a career year in New York last year, posting career highs in passing yards (3,905), touchdowns (31), and QBR (63.63), leading the Jets to a 10-6 record in his first year under center with the team.

The Jets missed the playoffs with a loss to Rex Ryan’s Buffalo Bills on the final day of the season.

This definitely isn’t great news for Jets fans. The fact that Fitzpatrick has multiple offers means he probably has known about the offers for a while. He could be looking for better offers, but the only team that seems interested in the veteran is his former team.

With reports surfacing earlier this week that Fitz hasn’t answered wide receiver Brandon Marshall’s text messages in weeks, fans must face the reality that Geno Smith might be their opening day starter.

Geno or Fitzpatrick starting may not matter for the Jets considering how brutal their schedule is this upcoming season. It’s looking like it will be another year in which we will see the New England Patriots take the AFC East, even with Tom Brady suspended for the first four games of the season.
