New York Yankees

Ivan Nova has improved his trade value in his last few stellar starts, and the New York Yankees are using that to their advantage.

In a weak pitching market, Ivan Nova can potentially turn into a coveted starting pitcher. According to Buster Olney of ESPN, the Yankees have been ‘pushing’ the 29-year-old in trade talks throughout the past few weeks.

Over his last four starts, the right-hander is 2-0 with a stellar 2.66 ERA. He has struck out 24 and walked merely six over the 23.2 innings pitched in that span.

Contenders in need of pitching depth will likely be interested in Nova’s services given his upturn and pennant race experience. A free agent at the end of the year, the remainder of his starts are not of much value for the Yankees.

No matter how substantial the return is, receiving something would be much better than nothing.
