UFC boss Dana White provided Cormier the news first-hand, with cameras on hand for UFC 200 Embedded – a series that allows fans a sneak peak in and around the latest happenings up to the big night. (The scene in question begins at the 4:10 mark.)
Cormier even asked White the following:
“Is there anything I can do? I’ll sign a release and we can just fight.”
Cormier, 37, was extremely upset upon hearing the news that he will not have a chance to claim the undisputed UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. He will now face the very dangerous Anderson Silva on late notice at Saturday’s UFC 200.
