Former New York Mets shortstop Jose Reyes is reportedly desperate to make a return to the Big Apple, according to Mike Puma of the NY Post.

As each day passes, the Jose Reyes rumors seem to intensify.

Mike Puma of the New York Post tweeted earlier today that Reyes is ‘desperate’ to return to the place he once called home. It’s certainly hard to blame the troubled infielder for feeling so.

Reyes’s age, injury history, and off the field issues have plagued him over the past few years. Many teams will have their questions about the declining infielder, but it’s possible a return his old club could rejuvenate the former all-star.

The Mets have had internal discussions about brining Reyes back, and the saga will continue as long as the team continues to struggle.

If Reyes clears waivers, he could be worth taking a flier. The Mets have almost no team speed, injuries on the diamond, and aren’t getting the same production out of the leadoff spot as they did last season.

The next few weeks should dictate whether the New York Mets are in or out on their former beloved shortstop.
