Every so often, the New York Yankees will display why they are the so-called “Bronx Bombers.” Tonight in Baltimore, they did just that.
In the 4th-inning of Friday night’s series opener, the New York Yankees flared some long awaited pop.
With one out and Brett Gardner on the move at first, Carlos Beltran rifled one into the right-center field bleachers at Camden Yards to give the Yanks a 2-1 lead.

Alex Rodriguez was the next batter up, and he launched one the other way above the high wall in right for his 7th home run of the season and 694th of his career.

The Yankees have struggled with their power, ranking 22nd in all of baseball in the home run category (52). One of their general weaknesses became a strength that propelled them into the lead in Baltimore.
