According to Rebecca Ford of The Hollywood Reporter, Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James will star in ‘Space Jam 2’.

Is it? Can it be finally true?

Is Cleveland Cavaliers megastar LeBron James finally taking that plunge into the world of Bugs Bunny and company?

A report from Rebecca Ford of The Hollywood Reporter says it is. According to Ford, James will, indeed, star in Space Jam 2. Ford also states that Justin Lin, who has directed Star Trek Beyond and four films in the Fast and the Furious series, has signed on as the director, with Andrew Dodge to serve as the movie’s screenwriter.

Later in the day, Justin Kroll of Variety confirmed the report. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, who is always near and dear to LeBron’s heart, reported that there is no official deal in place as of yet.

That aside, it seems pretty likely that LeBron will carry the torch for Michael Jordan into a new generation of Looney Tunes fans.

The original Space Jam, of course, was a terrible movie that featured the likes of Jordan, Bill Murray, and a cast of many cartoon characters. While awful, the movie has carried a cult-like phenomenon feel with it.

James being involved in rumors related to Space Jam 2 is nothing new. In August of 2015 he spoke about the possibility with Scott Stump of Today:

“We’re definitely missing Bugs and Daffy and Tasmanian Devil and every last one of them, so hopefully we can do some great things.”

Get ready folks, Bugs, Daffy and LBJ could be the next great Big-3.
