New York Jets

New York Jets veteran guard Willie Colon had some interesting words to say about Geno Smith, thanks to the Ryan Fitzpatrick situation.

We here in New York have heard of the phrase “Melo-drama.”

It was something that lasted forever. Something that was finally resolved thanks to big egos and stars finally pushing the issue.

Now, suddenly, we have a different type of drama: The Fitzpatrick Situation.

Thanks to the New York Jets and Ryan Fitzpatrick still at odds over the money the 33-year old free agent quarterback deserves, the issue of whether former starter Geno Smith deserves anther shot quickly comes to the forefront.

One guy who thinks Geno deserves another chance is veteran guard Willie Colon, via Connor Orr of NF.com:

“I think Geno has been humbled,” Colon told ESPN Radio on Saturday. “I think he’s been at the bottom and taken everything. I think he’s ready to rise. I still have confidence in him. I think with the pieces we have around him he can be successful. Honestly, I believe that, I think Geno is a good quarterback.”

Interesting words from a guy who’s been around the block a few times.
