The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are sure to miss out on College Football’s playoff now after this game-winning field goal by Stanford.

On Senior Night it was Stanford kicker Conrad Ukropina who nailed a 45-yard game winning field goal to give his Cardinal the thrilling 36-34 victory over No. 6 Notre Dame (video above).

The game was a shootout from the very beginning. Stanford quarterback, another senior himself, Kevin Hogan, threw four touchdown passes in the game including driving his offense very promptly in just 30 seconds which eventually led to the game winner by Ukropina.

The loss puts any delusions Brian Kelly and his Fighting Irish may have had of sneaking into College Football’s four-team playoff. Stanford, No. 9 prior to the contest, will certainly see their stock rise a bit as a result.

Notre Dame QB DeShone Kizer had given the Irish (now 10-2) a one-point lead on his 2-yard run with 30 seconds left only to see Hogan drive Stanford to the win.
