Very rarely does a pole vaulter receive mass public attention, even at the Olympic level. It’s just that sad way of the world honestly. They don’t generate the money like an NFL or MLB player does.
Allison Stokke, however, is another story all together.
Stokke, was recently a collegiate pole vaulter for the University of California. Her personal best vault at Cal was 13-9.75 at the Sacramento open while a Sophomore in 2009.
It was around this time Stokke became a fast and furious internet sensation; and no, it had nothing to do with pole vaulting. Rather, the public couldn’t get enough of this California girl.
Due to this, Stokke has become one of the most famous college pole vaulters in history.
